Weeklong trips include 7-night lodging/6 days guided fishing, breakfast, and lunch. Most domestic flights land in Roatan between noon and 2 PM. The 15-minute charter to Utila usually has our guests back at the house, enjoying a cold drink in time to catch the sun setting into the Caribbean Sea. The host will take everyone to dinner. The boats show up in the morning around 6:30 AM and breakfast and lunch are taken to eat on the boat. Fishing for the day usually ends around 3 or 4 PM. Guests then relax and get cleaned up as sunset happy hour and dinner follows. Dinners are in town at the many different restaurants; guests are responsible for purchasing their dinner. The trip host will work with guests to decide evening meals and secure reservations for them. Guests are welcome to bring their own gear or use ours. We have 8 through 10 weights, as well as spinning rods available for guest use. There are plenty of activities and attractions aside from fishing: private beaches with great bars and restaurants, snorkeling, scuba diving, bluewater fishing, iguana tours, freshwater caves, hike Pumpkin Hill, horseback riding, and stand-up paddleboarding.
Utila is set in the Caribbean Sea and is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. The island is surrounded by the reef, and it provides food and habitat for a vast variety of marine life. Inside of the reef are many flats, bays, and bights where bonefish, tarpon, permit, triggerfish, barracuda, jacks, and other shallow-water species thrive. Most of the flats are turtle grass, with white sand holes in various spots around the island. Volcanic rock rings many of the flats and the island, in some spots giving anglers the opportunity to cast into the surf for snapper and the occasional grouper. Outside of the reef, the bottom falls away quickly turning from crystal blue to black. Here you might be in 1,000 feet of water less than a couple of miles offshore. Wahoo, tuna, mahi, sails, and marlin all inhabit the bluewater off Utila. There are also two lagoons to fish. These are stained water mangrove lagoons where snook and tarpon ambush flies cast tightly to the roots. There are numerous creeks and canals in the lagoons, and one canal through the middle of the entire island. These offer great fishing opportunities and give us a way to get out in inclement weather while avoiding rough seas.

How do I get to Utila?
Our weeklong trips begin and end on Saturdays. You will need to schedule your domestic flight from the U.S. to Roatan (RTB). We will schedule your puddle jumper or ferry leg to Utila and notify you of the cost. Charter flights to Utila are usually around $500 for the plane, which carries up to four passengers. Costs are split among the passengers. Ferry tickets are about $35 each way, and the ferry is an air-conditioned modern vessel. Most of the domestic flights arrive too late Saturday afternoon to catch the ferry, but it is an option for the return trip. Guests could arrive a day early, spend the night on Roatan, and take the ferry over on Saturday if the ferry is preferred over the charter. Payment will be made to either the charter company or at the ferry office on the day of travel by cash only. Please be prepared with unmarked and untorn U.S. bills or Honduran Lempira. U.S. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months from departure date.
